The Sacrament of the Altar

Our Teaching on the Lord’s Supper

The celebration of the Lord’s Supper is central to the life of the Church and is celebrated at First Lutheran at every Saturday evening service, and every Sunday service with the exception of fifth Sundays. It is also celebrated on festival days. If you are a member of an LCMS congregation you are welcome at the Lord’s Table. If you are of another confession we ask that you please speak to the Pastor or to an Elder if you wish to commune. We also ask that the following be your sincere confession and promise:

1) Do I believe that I am a sinful person without hope of eternal life except for God’s mercy in Jesus?
2) Do I believe that Jesus is God’s Son and my personal Savior?
3) Do I believe that Jesus Christ is truly present in this Sacrament and that together with the bread and wine I receive His true Body and Blood?
4) Do I dedicate myself anew to the Lord through regular worship, the study of His Word, faithful witness, fervent prayer, and sacrificial living?

Children who are not yet confirmed are encouraged to join their parents at the table for a blessing. Please register your attendance on the form located in the pew rack. Please list last name and first name of all worshiping and check the appropriate column for those partaking of the Lord’s Supper.
